I provide therapeutic and consultation services that help children and their families make positive change and build on their strengths. I treat mental health and adjustment issues affecting the individual and family by using a variety of therapeutic approaches, parent consultation, and group parenting classes. My collaborative approach with children, parents and other professionals helps to improve clients’ lives and relationships.
I specialize in treating children (toddler through age 18) and their families. I treat a wide variety of issues affecting children including: anxiety disorders (generalized anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and specific phobias), mood disorders, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and exposure to traumatic events. I work with children who are having difficulty adjusting to life stressors including divorce, school problems, and peer relationship issues.
I use a wide variety of positive, strength-based strategies in my work with children and families. Specific treatment approaches I provide include: cognitive-behavioral therapy (see what is CBT in FAQ) and EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization (see what is EMRD in FAQ). I am extensively trained to understand childhood disorders within the context typical development.
Raising children is a difficult job, especially in our performance-oriented, social media driven culture. Many parents describe feeling as if they are barely making it or even failing in their roles as parents as they try to maintain careers and busy schedules. Rather than being a source of calmness and joy, family life is often described by adults and children as chaotic and negative. Children’s misbehaviors are frequently resolved when parents are able to bring positivity, predictability, and respect to the parent-child relationship. The relationship between parent and child is the primary foundation for the child’s emotional development.
I specialize in working with parents to improve family life and the parent-child relationship. I frequently incorporate parent training and support in the context of individual therapy with children. I also offer parent consultation. As a trained Positive Discipline Parent Educator (See what is Positive Discipline in FAQs), I focus on helping parents find effective and mutually respectful ways of parenting.
As a Positve Discipline Trained Educator, I am able to offer parenting classes and groups focused on the Positive Discipline approach to parenting (See What is Positive Discipline in FAQs).

Like home, school should be a place of security and exploration for children and adolescents. Too often, however, school becomes a difficult environment where children perceive judgement and negativity rather than support and a positive challenge. I offer support to school personnel and families to ensure a more positive working environment for all.
